Through
Through is a site specific installation geared toward viewer experience and response. Over two hundred strips of fabric were stretched alongside one another from the wall to the floor. Each individual strip was positioned at a slightly different angle than the one before it, creating a continuous undulating pathway around the square room. Upon entering the viewer had to crouch down and crawl in the space between the fabric and the wall. The viewer was able to stand upright once they reached the end, which was the center of the installation. In the interior of the space, the viewer witnessed the silhouette of others traveling through the piece. These shadows created a vibrating movement that reverberated across each fabric strip. This work explores the affect that the elements of light, form, and color have on the viewer as they move through an altered environment that functions as a vehicle for the body to travel through the space.
